A 19th century jack knife for the modern world, custom knife maker Tony Bose designed the Case Sway Back Jack as a dress carry slip joint knife that is at home in the office and the wood shop. Compact for carry, the Sway Back has a comfortable, sweeping handle paired with a rugged Wharncliffe blade. The “barehead” moniker reference the traditional American feature of no bolster at the cap end. This version comes with a Tru-Sharp stainless-steel blade and Sawcut Jig, Amber Bone covers.
Brand new, direct from W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co.
Blade: The Tru-Sharp stainless-steel blade is bright polish finished with a generous nail nick for opening. The flat ground Wharncliffe blade is robust enough for heavier work while being fine enough for the detail work. A stylish long swedge on the spine and flat grind give this blade balanced performance and durability for all around utility.
Handle: Polished nickel silver bolsters top the Sawcut Jig Amber Bone covers for a rustic look and feel. Brass liners house the blade and spring, which delivers half stop slip joint operation. The handle front sports a polished Bombshell shield.
Case Tru-Sharp: Case Tru-Sharp is another name for 420HC, a stainless steel that provides excellent rust resistance, ease of re-sharpening and moderate edge retention while being exceptionally tough for a stainless steel. With appropriate heat treatment, it is said to preform similarly to VG-10 in wear resistance.
